Hannover, 5 September 2017 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is exhibiting two new Amarok models at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The new Dark Label special edition model, which will be available from spring 2018, is also on view.

The Amarok Aventura Exclusive concept vehicle shows the road ahead for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles pick-ups. Even more horsepower, with even more torque. The concept vehicle with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive offers 190 kW/258 PS as well as increased torque. This ensures ample power for towing and acceleration. The ‘Turmeric Yellow Metallic’ concept car, with its generous double cab and clear design, boasts several highlights, starting with the high-gloss polished 19-inch ‘Milford’ wheels. The side sills, styling bar on the cargo box, front protection grille, exterior mirrors and rear bumper also feature a lot of chrome. Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights add to its sporty appearance.

Also on display is the roll cover system – a lockable, waterproof cargo bed cover which will be available for the first time in an aluminium design. The underbody guard also features an aluminium look. Technical features such as ParkPilot, rear view camera and a mechanical 100 per cent differential lock assist the driver in the urban jungle as well as off-road.

Inside, the Amarok Aventura Exclusive concept vehicle boasts sporty accents with black leather, offset with Curcuma Yellow contrast stitching. The concept vehicle format also shows off its excellent 14-way adjustable ergoComfort seats, 3-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel with shift paddles and the Discover Media navigation system. The new black roof liner in the Amarok can be seen for the first time at the IAA in Frankfurt, harmonising extremely well with the titanium black interior. The chrome accents of the exterior continue in the interior, for example with the chrome look decor.

The Amarok Dark Label limited edition is based on the Amarok Comfortline equipment line and is decidedly stylish in ‘Indium Grey matt’. This also includes dark coloured add-ons such as black sill pipes, a styling bar in matt black, lacquered chrome strips in the front grille and the ‘Rawson’ 18-inch alloy wheels in anthracite with high-gloss surface. The Dark Label is aimed at design-oriented individualists who do not wish to sacrifice the advantages of a true off-road vehicle. Matt black door handles and exterior mirrors as well as a Dark Label logo on the lower door sill complete the stylish appearance. Inside, the new black roof liner and floor mats embroidered with the Dark Label logo continue the design theme of the special model.

Two V6 engine configurations are available for the Amarok Dark Label from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: a 120 kW TDI with a six-speed manual gearbox and either pure rear-wheel drive or on-demand all-wheel drive, and a 150 kW TDI with a six-speed manual gearbox and on-demand 4MOTION all-wheel drive, or an eight-speed automatic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive. Available in Germany in spring 2018 starting at €33,714 net. Always with BMT, short for BlueMotion Technology, as standard. This includes a start-stop system, brake energy recuperation as well as tyres optimised for low rolling resistance. All performance levels meet the EU-6 emissions standard.

With a length of 5.25 metres and a width of 2.23 metres including the mirrors, the Amarok offers everything that could be expected from a traditional pick-up. The loading area of the four-door Amarok with double cab can accommodate a Euro pallet placed sideways and – depending on the trim line – payloads of over one tonne. In addition, some variants of the new Amarok have a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes.
